Hypertronics Mini D0 series - Hypertronics Mini Hypergrip

Kensington News...

September 2011

Kensington Partners with Hypertronics to offer miniature connector in medical market.

Kensington Electronics, Inc., one of the fastest growing distributors of electronic components in the United States, continues to expand its medical offering by signing on as the only official distributor for both Hypertronics' Mini-D and Mini-HG circular connector series.

The Mini D series connector is nearly 30% smaller than Hypertronics D01 series, has 0.30mm Hypertac® high reliability contacts, simple push-button latching, and the distinctive housing provides alignment and polarization.

Both the mini-D and mini-HG connector incorporate the ultra-reliable Hypertac hyperboloid contacts with 0.30mm pins which create a significantly smaller form factor with five-signal contacts rated at 1 Amp each. The design maintains the same reliable electromechanical performance characteristics of all Hypertac contacts: high cycle life, low contact resistance, low insertion and extraction force, resistance to shock and vibration, and superior self-cleaning action, but now meet the industry's increased demands for miniaturization and higher density.

Additionally, the Mini-HG is IP67, Fingerproof to IEC60601, and can be color coded.

The connectors are ideal for use in medical equipment such as monitors, therapeutic devices, imaging applications, and invasive probes. With medical systems becoming smaller, Hypertronics mini connectors allow manufacturers to create smaller devices that offer more comfort and portability for patients.

The product brochures for both the Mini-D and Mini-HG circular connector series can be downloaded below.

photovoltaic connector with RADSOK (radial socket contact) technology

Amphenol News...

May 2, 2011

New PV connectors incorporate radial-socket contact technology

Helios H4 Panel Connector a low-power-loss option

Amphenol Industrial has incorporated its trademarked RADSOK (radial socket contact) technology into its latest photovoltaic connector, the Helios H4. VIEW a Slideshare presentation on Amphenol's RADSOK.

According to Amphenol, "RADSOK technology is based on a stamped and formed flat grid, uniquely twisted into a hyperbolic geometry to provide robust, high-density contact to the mating pin contact. Unlike most other pin-and-socket solutions, the RADSOK also utilizes the tensile strength properties of the flat, high-conductivity alloy grid. This provides the high normal forces required for conductivity while also providing a large conductive surface area. Correspondingly, low voltage drop and low temperature rise are achieved while maintaining low insertion forces."

The company says those characteristics make the Helios H4 Panel Connector a low-power-loss option. The connector feeds power from a solar panel to either an inverter or combiner box. According to Amphenol, it complies with requirements of the 2008 National Electrical Code without requiring any additional locking collars or sleeves. Gauge sizes available are 14 AWG (rated at 36 A), 12 AWG (rated at 45 A) and 10 AWG (rated at 52 A).

Hypertronics Releases New Shielded HyperGrip® Connector

Provides Continuous EMI and RFI Shielding Protection of -50db @3GHz

Hypertronics Corporation, a Smiths Interconnect business and world-leading provider of high performance interconnect solutions for the most demanding applications, announced today the release of their new Shielded HyperGrip® connector. More sophisticated medical equipment with increased data transfer rates have given rise to a need for shielded connectors to protect medical interconnect from dangerous signal interruptions caused by EMI and RFI. In addition to its uniquely medical appearance and proprietary features, the Hypertronics Shielded HyperGrip® circular, plastic, push-pull medical connectors series provides continuous shielding through the connector with an attenuation of -50db at 3 GHz.

The Shielded HyperGrip series is ideally suited for operating in sterile hospital environments and embodies the features and functionality required to make certain that the highest level of performance and quality are maintained across key disciplines that include homecare cardiac devices, patient monitoring, imaging, and electrophysiology catheter systems. Recognizing the needs of the medical device community, Hypertronics Corporation has designed Shielded HyperGrip® to be user-configurable, color-coded (5 different colors are available), has front and rear panel mount receptacle design, is finger-proofed, resistant to sterilization protocols and can be keyed to provide true and secure connections on medical devices.

"With Shielded HyperGrip®, Hypertronics has taken a bold step forward in achieving its vision of an innovative, state-of-the-art interconnect solution that addresses the constantly changing landscape of the medical device industry," stated Vadim Radunsky, President of Hypertronics Corporation. "Early feedback from customers who have deployed Shielded HyperGrip® indicates that they are embracing it as an interconnect device that is reliable and easy to work with."

It is important to note that EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) and RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) can cause the degradation of system performance. Hypertronics Shielded HyperGrip® connectors help ensure signal integrity and protect sensitive medical device circuitry from damaging EMI and RFI interference, while providing ultimate performance and an extended service life. They incorporate the ultra-reliable Hypertac contact design technology which outperforms standard interconnect solutions, and provides up to 100,000 contact mating cycles, drastically reducing the cost of ownership.
